How We Tackle a Hail-Beaten Car

Hail does not pick one panel. It hits the roof, hood, trunk lid and rails, sometimes the glass, and every one of those dents needs a decision. In Garland, storms roll in over Lake Ray Hubbard and catch cars in office lots, apartment parking and stuck traffic on I-635 all at once. Our job is to put each panel under the light, mark the dents and decide whether the paint held. Where it held, the metal gets pushed back out from behind. Where it cracked or the dent is too sharp, the panel gets filled, refinished or replaced. You get one written sheet that shows all of it, so you and the adjuster are reading the same numbers.

The Hail Work Order, Line by Line

Here is what a typical hail job covers.

  • Dent sheet for each panel

Every dent is circled on the car and logged by panel and size. That sheet is what the insurer needs to price the job correctly.

  • Clear coat condition check

We look for cracked clear coat at each impact, because that one detail decides between pushing the dent and refinishing the panel.

  • Paintless dent work

Where the finish survived, a technician reaches behind the panel with rods and slowly works the dent back out, keeping the factory paint intact.

  • Rails and pillar tops

Roof rails are stiff and hard to reach. We note them separately and plan for headliner or trim removal when access calls for it.

  • Fill and refinish where needed

Dents with broken paint or sharp edges get repaired, primed and painted, then blended so the panel matches its neighbors.

  • Honest replacement calls

When a hood or roof skin carries too many dents to repair cleanly, we write it up for replacement and show the reason on the estimate.

  • Lenses, mirror caps and moldings

Hail cracks taillights, mirror caps and plastic trim too. Those parts go on the same sheet so nothing gets left off the claim.

  • Glass folded into the plan

If the windshield or sunroof took a hit, the glass replacement goes into the same repair plan instead of a second visit somewhere else.

The Hail Job in Three Moves

  1. 01

    Light, mark, write it up

The car goes under inspection lights and every dent gets marked with a grease pencil. We log the count and size by panel and photograph the roof, hood and trunk lid. That sheet becomes the estimate. If you have a claim open, the adjuster gets the same sheet and the same photos.

  2. 02

Push or refinish, one panel at a time

Once the work is approved, each panel follows the plan: paintless work where the finish held, body and paint where it did not. Trim and headliners come out only where access requires it. If we find more damage than the first look showed, you hear about it before we keep going.

  3. 03

    Recheck under the same light

When the metal work is done, the car goes back under the lights it started under. We hunt for leftover dimples, high spots and paint texture, and fix what we find. At pickup, you get a lap around the car and a look at every panel we touched.

Why Hail Jobs Come to This Shop

  • Every dent is on paper

A clear dent sheet keeps the claim accurate. It also keeps you from finding a missed panel a month after pickup.

  • Original paint protected when it survived

We push dents before we reach for the spray gun. Factory paint that made it through the storm is worth keeping.

  • No dragging out a lost cause

If a panel is past saving, we say so and show you why. A repair that will never look right is not a repair worth doing.

Storm Already Passed Through?

Hail dents do not get better sitting in the driveway, and some policies have reporting deadlines. Give the shop a ring, tell us what got hit, and we will set up the inspection.
