Paint Scratch Repair in Garland
A tight garage pillar, a keyed door, a scrape from a parking-garage ramp. How deep the scratch goes decides how we fix it.
(000) 000-0000 — get the scratch looked atDepth Decides the Fix
Your finish is layered like a cake, with clear over color, color over primer and primer over the steel or plastic itself. Marks that never left the clear usually polish away. Cut into the color and you are looking at touch-up or refinishing; cut through to primer or metal and the area needs a real repair to keep rust and peeling from following. We see everything from parking-garage scrapes picked up downtown to scuffs from a tight lot off Garland Road. The depth gets checked with light, magnification and a simple fingernail test, and then we tell you which repair actually fits. We won't sell you a repaint when polishing will do the job.
Scratch Repair Options
Each scratch gets matched to one of these approaches, or a combination when the damage varies along its length.
Clearcoat polishing
Swirls and shallow marks that live only in the clear get cut down with compound, then brought up with polish.
Wet-sand and refine
When compound can't quite reach the bottom of a mark, it gets leveled with fine wet paper, and the gloss is restored by machine.
Fine-brush color fill
Chips and thin scratches that reach the color layer get built up with matched paint, then leveled so they sit even with the surrounding finish.
Small-area refinish
Scratches covering a small area are sanded, primed and refinished, then blended into the rest of the panel.
Whole-panel refinish
Long key scratches or scrapes across most of a panel are best handled by refinishing the entire panel.
Bare steel sealed off
Scratches down to steel are cleaned, sealed and primed to stop rust before any color goes on.
Scuffed plastic parts
Scuffs on bumpers and mirror housings are sanded smooth and painted with a flexible system.
Paint mixed to your code
All touch-up and refinish paint is mixed from the factory code and checked against the car itself.
How We Take Care of a Scratch
- 01
Check the depth
The area is cleaned first so we see the scratch itself and not the dirt in it. We study it under a light and judge which layer it reached. That decides the repair method. You'll hear the options and why we recommend one over another.
- 02
Repair the layers
Clear-only scratches get compounded and polished. Deeper ones are sanded, primed if needed and refinished in matched color. Bare metal is sealed before any paint is applied. Each layer is allowed to set properly before the next one goes on.
- 03
Blend and check
Refinished areas are blended so the edges disappear into the original paint. The panel is polished to match the surrounding gloss. We look at it in sunlight and in shop light from several angles. Then we bring you over to see it in person.
Why Scratches Are Worth Handling Correctly
Exposed steel rusts
A scratch down to bare steel can start rusting in humid Texas weather. Sealing it properly stops the problem before it spreads under the paint.
Bottle touch-ups stand out
Paint dabbed on from a bottle often sits high and shows a different shade. Proper leveling and blending make the repair hard to find.
The smallest fix that works
If polishing solves it, that's what we recommend. Bigger repairs are only suggested when the scratch actually calls for them.
That Scratch Doesn't Have to Stay
Give us a rough idea of how long and how deep it looks, and we'll talk through the options before you bring it in. Wylie and Sachse drivers are welcome to do the same.
